HABITAT DEVELOPMENT

From the very inception of the Society hue and cry for shelter has been loudly heard all over the area and is still going on unabated as the most sought after demand on HEARDS with its intensity getting aggravated during every monsoon that is invariably accompanied by flooding, eviction due to road expansion and overcrowded houses . Practically no year has passed off without HEARS making substantial investments in the housing sector – for new houses, repair and renovation, completion, etc. in this respect, the Slum Development Housing Program in Chittoor with 50 houses and other different social housing schemes implemented at different intervals in various places stands as milestone achievements of HEARDS. The research-oriented and innovative approach of the Society on functional habitat has, of late, come across with the concept of “housing in the barrier-free environment” and it is already afoot with such a novel scheme for the downtrodden community.
